Epic Journey is a private, cash-pay coaching practice, so no insurance claim, billing code, or third party payer file is created by working with us. We are not a facility and we have no beds, and the practice was built around privacy and discretion instead of insurance billing.
We will not tell you this protects your job, your certification, or your fitness for duty status. Reporting rules depend on your agency, your state, your contract, and your assignment, and some of them apply no matter who you call. What we can tell you is exactly what we do and do not put on paper. Take that to your own attorney or association rep before you decide anything.
You work with founder Preston Durnford directly, multiple times a week, plus a licensed therapist multiple times a week with hourly sessions as needed. Behind that is a team of 12: coaches, holistic practitioners, functional medicine, a neurologist, a psychiatrist, and licensed therapists.

It is virtual first and available nationwide, so sessions get built around your rotation instead of the other way around. In-person work is available across Orange County, plus meetups and retreat experiences out of Newport Beach. Engagement length is individualized. We do not sell a fixed number of days.
Yes. The family gets a separate clinical team of their own, and Preston works with the family directly rather than treating it as an afterthought. In this line of work the person at home has usually been absorbing the aftermath of your calls for years with nowhere to put it.
If a higher level of care is ever needed, Preston coordinates it. He has operated treatment centers for over 11 years, built and ran clinical operations for a subacute detox center, a primary mental health program, and a dual diagnosis outpatient program in Southern California, and has personally led more than 500 interventions. He has been sober over a decade.
Epic Journey does not bill insurance and does not contact your department, chief, or command staff. The practice is cash-pay, so no claim is filed and no insurance record is generated on our end. That is a description of how we operate, not a guarantee about your job, your license, or any duty you personally have to report.
Yes, Epic Journey works with dispatchers and 911 telecommunicators, along with police, fire, and paramedics. The exposure is different but the pattern is familiar: cumulative calls, disrupted sleep, rotating shifts, and a culture where asking for help is treated as a liability. Spouses and family members are worked with as well.
Yes. Epic Journey is virtual first and works with clients across the country, with sessions scheduled around shift rotations rather than a standard weekday calendar. In-person work is available across Orange County for clients who are local or willing to travel.
Shift work makes a rigid schedule useless, so the cadence bends around your rotation. The core engagement is 90 days, and that is when the intensive work happens with the full team. Most people stay up to about six months, and after that many taper to roughly one session a week, ongoing, usually with whichever team member they connected with most.
It is not a rigid program you graduate from. The 90 days are front loaded on purpose, because that is where the assessments, the clinical work, and the family work carry the most weight.
Most of it is virtual, because it is convenient and that is how most clients work. Some clients fly out for the retreat, or the team flies to them, which is the higher package tier. In person is also available across Orange County. Most clients pay hourly or through set packages, and Epic Journey is cash pay, not a facility.
