Who We Are.
At Epic Journey, we are a passionate team committed to supporting those facing addiction and mental health challenges. Based in Newport Beach, CA, we offer comprehensive services to empower individuals on their recovery journeys. Our mission is deeply personal, rooted in the loss of founder Preston Durnford’s brother, Dustin, to a fentanyl overdose in 2019 and his father to suicide in 2015.
Our founder.
Preston Durnford, our founder, has over a decade of experience in the behavioral health industry. His personal journey proves that recovery is possible, and he’s dedicated to helping others design meaningful lives. Inspired by his father’s advice, “If it’s not in writing, it doesn’t exist,” Preston authored The Epic Journal—a tool to help individuals reflect, grow, and document their healing journey.
Our Approach.
Preston's passion for recovery extends to his personal life. Diagnosed with type 1.5 diabetes in 2024, he embraces life as an athlete, skydiver, and surfer. Epic Journey is now partnered with Pacific Shores Recovery, where Preston feels right at home, providing individuals with a special place for healing.

Our professional intervention process has successfully helped hundreds of families transition their loved ones into treatment. Through our partnership with Pacific Shores Recovery, we provide access to detox, residential treatment, outpatient programs, and sober living options.
