Mind · Body · Spirit · Continuum

One person, an entire team behind every client.

Epic Journey is the quarterback. Preston is the through-line. Around every client we coordinate a contracted team of licensed clinicians and holistic practitioners — chosen for what that specific person actually needs.

We are not a licensed treatment facility. We are a private behavioral health coaching, intervention, and advocacy practice. The clinical care is delivered by a vetted network of contracted professionals — functional medicine, ketamine-assisted therapy, neurological brain mapping, licensed therapists and psychiatrists, holistic and spiritual practitioners — and we coordinate the whole picture.

The Quarterback Model

One coach. One whole team.

Recovery doesn’t happen in one room with one provider. It happens at the intersection of clinical care, biological repair, behavioral structure, family-system work, and spiritual reconnection — and that intersection needs one person coordinating everything.

That’s the role Epic Journey plays. Preston is the quarterback. The team plays on the field.

Every client starts with a pre-assessment directly with Preston. From there, the team we build around you is custom — chosen based on what your situation actually requires. Some clients need a functional medicine workup and a psychiatrist. Some need a trauma therapist and a qEEG brain map. Some need a Reiki practitioner and a sober mentor. Most need a combination.

Whatever the right combination is, we coordinate it. You don’t manage the team. We do.

Where It Starts

Every engagement begins with a pre-assessment.

Before we recommend a single specialist, Preston spends real time understanding who you are, what you’ve been through, what’s been tried, what hasn’t worked, and what you actually want.

The pre-assessment is the foundation. It covers your history, family system, medical and psychiatric background, substance use, current life structure, professional realities, and the spiritual or existential side of what you’re navigating. From that conversation we design the team. No two clients get the same team because no two clients are the same person. The pre-assessment is where the custom protocol begins.

The Contracted Network

Who we work with.

Every specialist below is a contracted partner Epic Journey coordinates with based on each client’s specific clinical, biological, emotional, and spiritual needs. Preston introduces them, sits in on early sessions when useful, and integrates their work into the overall protocol.

Clinical Therapy

Licensed Therapists

Licensed mental-health clinicians (LMFTs, LCSWs, PsyDs, PhDs) for trauma processing, diagnostic work, and the clinical material that requires a credentialed clinician.

  • Trauma-informed care — EMDR, IFS, somatic experiencing, psychodynamic work
  • Cognitive & behavioral modalities — CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing
  • Diagnostic clarification and clinical assessment
  • Weekly or twice-weekly sessions, in-person or virtual
Brain Mapping

Neurologist & qEEG Brain Mapping

Quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain mapping in partnership with Peak Brain Institute (Costa Mesa, CA). We see inside the brain — how it’s actually functioning — before we recommend protocols.

  • Comprehensive qEEG scan mapping electrical activity across regions
  • Detects patterns of trauma, attention disruption, anxiety, sleep, mood, and substance damage
  • Provides an objective biological baseline — not just a self-report
  • Informs neurofeedback, medication, and recovery decisions with real data
Partner: Peak Brain Institute — Costa Mesa, California
Biology & Labs

Functional Medicine

Root-cause biological work that conventional medicine often misses. We understand how hormones, gut health, inflammation, blood sugar, methylation, and neurotransmitter chemistry drive cravings, mood, and recovery outcomes.

  • Comprehensive lab work (hormones, gut, inflammation, methylation)
  • Neurotransmitter and metabolic testing
  • Heavy metal and mycotoxin panels when relevant
  • Personalized supplement, nutrition, and lifestyle protocols
Partner: Dr. Kristi Vaughan, MD — functional medicine clinician
Medical Psychiatry

Psychiatrists

Licensed MDs for medication evaluation, management, and coordination — when medication is part of the picture or when an existing regimen needs review.

  • Medication evaluation and optimization
  • SSRI / mood stabilizer / anti-anxiety coordination
  • Psychiatric assessment and second opinions
  • Medication-tapering coordination with our plant-medicine and ketamine pathways
Ketamine-Assisted

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Providers

Licensed MD providers offering ketamine-assisted therapy for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, and trauma. The only psychedelic-class medicine that is fully legal and FDA-approved in the U.S. for these indications.

  • Pre-session preparation with Preston
  • Clinical sessions with credentialed MD providers
  • Same-day debrief and ongoing integration support
  • Coordinated medication management when needed
Family Work

Family Psychologists

Licensed psychologists who specialize in family system work — for parents, spouses, siblings, and adult children navigating a loved one’s active addiction or recovery.

  • Family-of-origin pattern work
  • Marital and parent-child repair
  • Communication coaching for high-stress dynamics
  • Post-treatment reintegration support
Energy & Body

Holistic Practitioners

For the parts of recovery that aren’t purely cognitive. The nervous system, the energy body, the somatic patterning — what gets held in the body and how to release it.

  • Reiki and energy work
  • Somatic experiencing and bodywork
  • Breathwork facilitators
  • Acupuncture and acupressure
Spirit & Wisdom

Spiritual Guides & Wisdom Traditions

Recovery is, ultimately, a search for meaning. For clients open to it, we bring in spiritual guides and channels drawing from established wisdom traditions — Buddhist, Hindu, contemplative Christian, indigenous — integrating what serves the person.

  • Buddhist meditation, sangha, and mindfulness practice
  • Hindu wisdom and contemplative traditions
  • Intuitive and channeled guidance work
  • Integration of meaning, purpose, and the existential side of recovery
In Plain Language

What is a qEEG brain scan?

qEEG (quantitative electroencephalography) is a brain scan that maps the electrical activity happening across your brain in real time. Unlike a standard EEG, qEEG produces a detailed quantitative analysis that shows how different regions communicate, where there’s overactivity or underactivity, and how your brain’s patterns compare to age-matched normative data.

In recovery and mental-health work, the qEEG gives us objective biological information instead of relying entirely on self-report. It helps us see:

Epic Journey coordinates qEEG scans with Peak Brain Institute in Costa Mesa, California. We use the data to inform protocols across the rest of the network — therapy, functional medicine, psychiatry, and recovery work.

The Framework

Mind. Body. Spirit.

Recovery only holds when all three are addressed together.

M

Mind

  • Licensed therapists for trauma + clinical work
  • Psychiatry for medication when needed
  • Recovery coaching and accountability
  • Cognitive and behavioral restructuring
  • Family-system therapy
B

Body

Biology, brain, breath.

  • Functional medicine labs and protocols
  • qEEG brain mapping (Peak Brain Institute)
  • Ketamine-assisted therapy where indicated
  • Training, nutrition, sleep optimization
  • Somatic and bodywork practitioners
S

Spirit

Meaning, presence, purpose.

  • Reiki and energy work
  • Spiritual guides and intuitive practice
  • Buddhist and Hindu wisdom traditions
  • Meditation, breathwork, contemplative practice

Engagement Timeline

From beginning to far beyond.

Real engagement timelines from the clients we’ve worked with. We build a custom team and walk with you for as long as the work requires — not a single day longer than it serves, not a single day shorter than it should.

3–6 mo
Typical Engagement

The Foundation Build

Most clients run the initial protocol for 3 to 6 months — the time it takes to stabilize, build the team, do the foundational clinical work, and establish daily structure that holds.

2.5 yr+
Common Long-Term

The Sustained Phase

Many of our clients stay engaged for two and a half years and beyond. Cadence tapers as life stabilizes, but the relationship remains — for accountability, crisis response, and the moments that still matter.

7 yr

The Lifelong Relationship

A handful of our clients have been with us seven years straight — through career transitions, marriages, kids, losses, sober milestones. The work matures from recovery to growth to legacy.

The right team. The right person. Built around you.
