FOUNDERS, EXECUTIVES, HIGH PERFORMERS

Recovery for founders and executives who cannot disappear for 30 days

Epic Journey is a concierge recovery coaching practice for people who cannot check out of their own lives. No facility, no insurance claim, no absence to explain.

Founders & Executives, Epic Journey Recovery

Can I get help for addiction without taking 30 days off work?

Yes. Epic Journey is a concierge recovery coaching practice, not a facility, so there is no admission date, no bed, and no 30 day block on your calendar. The work is built around your schedule instead of the other way around.

It is virtual first out of Newport Beach and runs nationwide, with in person work across Orange County plus meetups and retreat experiences. You work with Preston Durnford directly multiple times a week, and with a licensed therapist multiple times a week plus hourly sessions when you need them.

Engagement length is individualized. Nobody is counting days. If a higher level of care is ever needed, Preston coordinates it. He has operated treatment centers for over 11 years.

How do I keep this private from my board and my investors?

Epic Journey is cash pay and does not bill insurance, so there is no claim, no diagnosis code, and no benefits record created anywhere. There is no facility to check into and no absence anyone has to explain.

Privacy is the reason the practice is built this way. It is not an add on. Sessions happen on your calendar, from wherever you are, around the things you cannot move. Preston works with you directly, so few people are involved.

The first step is a confidential consultation with Preston, not an intake queue. You decide what happens after that.

What if I am high functioning and nobody believes there is a problem?

You do not need anyone else to agree before you get help. Epic Journey starts with what is measurable instead of a debate about whether it is bad enough.

The company is still running and the numbers still look fine, which is why this can go unnamed for years. So the work starts somewhere else.

Behind that sits a team of 12: Preston, coaches, holistic practitioners, functional medicine, a neurologist, a psychiatrist, and licensed therapists. Your family gets its own clinical team, and Preston works with the family directly.

Questions people ask

Does Epic Journey take insurance?

No. Epic Journey is cash pay and does not bill insurance, is not in network, and is not a licensed treatment facility. The practice is built around privacy and discretion instead of insurance billing, which is why there is no insurance claim trail.

How long is the engagement?

Engagement length is individualized. There is no fixed program length and no set number of weeks you sign up for, because the right length depends on the person, the family, and what the workup shows. It is decided with you, not handed to you.

Who is Preston Durnford?

Preston Durnford founded Epic Journey in 2014, has been sober for over a decade, and has personally led more than 500 interventions. He built and ran clinical operations for a subacute detox center, a primary mental health program, and a dual diagnosis outpatient program in Southern California, then sold them. He is the author of The Epic Journal, with more than 30,000 copies sold, and you can book a confidential consultation with him directly.

How long do people actually work with Epic Journey?

For founders and executives, the calendar is the constraint, so we build around it. The core engagement is 90 days, and that is when the intensive work happens with the full team. Most people stay up to about six months, and after that many taper to roughly one session a week, ongoing, usually with whichever team member they connected with most.

It is not a rigid program you graduate from. The 90 days are front loaded on purpose, because that is where the assessments, the clinical work, and the family work carry the most weight.

Most of it is virtual, because it is convenient and that is how most clients work. Some clients fly out for the retreat, or the team flies to them, which is the higher package tier. In person is also available across Orange County. Most clients pay hourly or through set packages, and Epic Journey is cash pay, not a facility. Who is actually on the team?

About 12 people. It is Preston plus coaches, holistic practitioners, functional medicine, a neurologist, a psychiatrist, and licensed therapists, and collectively they have decades of experience. Preston will tell you most of his team has as much or more operating experience than he does.
